Part shade/shade. Evergreen with large, tropical-looking foliage. A big, bold understory shrub effective anywhere ginger and bananas are used or as as bed centerpieces under large trees. Easily damaged by freezing temperatures. Keep it mulched and out of direct sun; the appropriate soil moisture is best found in shade. Poisonous if ingested. The sap may be a skin irritant to susceptible individuals.
