CHERRY LAUREL

Sun; part shade; evergreen, with dark glossy green leaves suitable for screening. A vigorous grower; it reseeds freely. In deep, moist soils, cherry laurel makes an excellent substitute for both yaupon holly and the invasive Japanese ligustrum; it grows in the same semi-shaded understory around pecans and other massive trees. A native of Texas and the southeastern U.S.
