LINDHEIMER MUHLY

Sun/part shade. An outstanding fine-textured bunchgrass with ornamental seed plumes and silvery grey foliage. Very hardy on limestone outcrops, in its native range it is most often found near streams and drainages. Use it as a specimen or a screen in the home landscape. It is often cropped or crew-cut by landscape crews in late winter to clear out spent brown leaves (see photo) but it can be slow to recover. A far less obtrusive method of tidying it up is just to break off the dead leaves and comb through it with a rake.
